The Executive Board meets once per month and again with the full board.
President
The President shall preside at all meetings of the Council and its Executive Committee at which they may be present, be responsible for directing the activities of the Council and shall perform all duties and exercise all powers pertaining to their office; help to extend PTA work into all parts of the Council territory, keeping it in harmony with the state plan; coordinate the work of the officers and committees, in order that the Objects may be promoted; shall be a member ex-officio of all committees of the unit except the Nominating Committee, call a meeting within 30 days after the annual meeting; be the delegate to the CT Board of Directors"-PTA By-Laws
As Council President, you serve on the board of the CT Board of Directors. They have meetings 4-5 times per year-generally on a Saturday. You will receive information on a regular basis about the meetings.
VP, Education/Budget
The school budget is part of an annual town voting process. The Education/Budget VP rallies support within the PTA with the help of a committee, to help with the Board of Education's effort to educate the public of the proposed budget and encourage voter participation. The Education/Budget VP attends BOE meetings and workshops when school budget is discussed, as well as meetings for the Board of Finance and Board of Selectman. The campaign may include signs, newspaper advertising or mailers, presentations at unit meetings or community venues.
Secretary
Take attendance at meetings. Keep accurate minutes at monthly meetings. Distribute minutes to all board members. At the beginning of the year, consolidate the calendars of all the schools and Council.
Treasurer
Maintains accurate records of all income sources and expenditures. Provides reports monthly to the organization. There are currently two accounts - General Fund for Council and Cultural Arts Fund.
Delegate/Legislative
Stays in contact with CT PTA and National PTA, to update the Council on issues of relevance, before state and national legislatures. The Delegate/Legislative representative will also be aware of issues that may arise within Wilton.
